T3 stands for Teaching Teens to Trust
T3 is made up of families with teenagers. As families, we explore what it means to truly trust in Jesus in all areas of life. We do this through discussions and activities that are interactive, fun and relevant to both teens and adults. This Missio Community is just plain fun! Ask any of the families that are involved.
Our community typically gathers together once a week, giving each family the opportunity to serve as host on a rotating schedule. Most gatherings begin with everyone getting a coffee or drink and a quick “How was your week?” check in. Afterward, we move into a more focused time that usually includes a game or activity. This is often followed by sharing a meal together. The meal provides time for the teens to hang out together and for the adults to discuss and plan for upcoming activities.
Amazingly, the teens are often the ones asking for us to get together. (They like hanging out with their parents whether they will openly acknowledge it or not!) The parents are beginning to realize that we too are experiencing something that we haven't experienced very often before: developing a life of faith as a family, not as individuals going separate directions at church.
Activities that are engaging to both teens and adults (and also challenge us to step out of our comfort zone and reach out into the world) are of high value in our Missio Community. Some of the activities T3 has participated in include: making fleece pillows and distributing them to the homeless in Seattle; serving meals and providing clothes at Occidental Park; and serving meals at a women’s shelter. We are always looking for creative and tangible ways to go out and serve others together.
